From the recording Gina Rides a Tiger

This song was written for my sister who succumbed after an eleven year battle with breast cancer.

Lyrics

Rose pink lights up her front door outside a hospice living room.
She will not suffer anymore or cause her loved ones gloom.
Her weary eyes flash open wide
Eleven years of fate denied
Have come down to this final ride
Where she escapes her tomb.

So much she has left undone.
So many people in her life,
Who never knew what she went through,
so well she bore her pain and strife.
But now it’s time to say goodbye.
And so she heaves a final sigh.
No need to cry or wonder why
Her body can’t hold life.

Gina rides a tiger, while those who know her cry.
She rides up in the mountains, against a purple sky.
Across a scorching desert, through valley’s darkest night.
Gina rides a tiger out of sight.

Days and moons have turned to years
Since she has taken her last leave.
And I have shed my share of tears,
Though it is not for her I grieve,
But for the life that might have been,
And who knows when will be again.
The wheel will spin and some will win
While others seek reprieve.

Gina rides a tiger, while those who know her cry.
She rides up in the mountains, against a purple sky.
Across a scorching desert, through valley’s darkest night.
Gina rides a tiger out of sight.

Gina rides a tiger
across a stormy sea.
She rides into the sunset.
She rides off to be free.
Between the parting clouds
to where her star is blazing bright.
Gina rides a tiger out of sight.
Gina rides a tiger to the light.
